Everyone remembers that moment of disbelief when The Human Torch slammed through that flame-grilled whopper sign, or when Will Smith received those vintage 2005 Chuck’s.

Turn a movie poster or iconic scene into an advert for any product you like. The product does not have to be in the film or even related to the film, but it should capitalise on the imagery you use. An example could be the classic bunny-boiler scene from ‘Fatal Attraction’ as an NSPCA advert.

Welcome to a brand new Constant Contest hosted on the brand new Constant Digital Network.

Season Two was due to begin months ago, however unforseen circumstances put an indefinite hiatus on the contest: I started a new job at Stewart Milne, I’m moving flat next week and I completely rebuilt the website…

But now we’re back (exactly two months after the Season One Design Awards) and what better way to celebrate the launch of the Constant Digital Network than to begin Season Two. The new project will be announced on Thursday 8th September so stay tuned!

Season One is now over, and after some major changes over the last ten weeks I am now happy with the layout / graphics and feel that projects are now more easily read and also easier for me to update. In the next season I will be introducing a new incentive for designers to enter. Season Two will begin next week, giving me some time in-between to plan the coming competition.

At the end of this week I will be presenting awards for the regular designers in recognition of their support in helping make the competition the best it can be. Thanks again to everyone involved.

In the meantime designers are free to create and submit additional entries to any Season One projects for this week only. I would also like everyone to email me with their favourite entry and favourite project from the last season which will be displayed along with the design awards.

Since “American Pie” briefly reinvigorated bawdy teen comedies in the late 1990′s and early 2000′s the genre has subsequently faded-off once again. Now that “American Reunion” is in pre-production, it’s time to bring the genre back with a ‘bang’!!!

Create a poster for your own teen comedy. Make your movie contemporary and relevant; use current rising film stars and innuendo wherever possible.

Design a poster for a new film that is a mash-up of two existing movies. Try to be creative by mixing genres and come up with a unique combination. An example of this could be “Superbad Boys”.

You do not have to use the full title of each film, although your chosen films must be recognisable in your design. An example of this could be “Big Trouble in Middle Earth”.

Although ‘The Beaver’ seems to be doing a pretty good job so far, it is time to definitively put Mel Gibson’s career to rest.

Design a poster for a new film starring Mel Gibson that will finally put an end to the troubled actor’s moribund career. Create a concept so abysmal that it will be a guaranteed flop on release, inevitably leading to him never working in Hollywood again.

‘The Asylum’ is a production company famed for their budget versions of blockbuster films, releasing classic straight-to-DVD titles such as “Transmorphers” and “I Am Omega”.

Design a DVD cover for a new movie from ‘The Asylum’ based on an existing popular film. Try to make it really obvious what film you are ripping off and use appropriate b-movie actors. You do not have to pick a brand new film, but it should be relatively modern to justify the release.

Since ‘The Bill’ was cancelled, viewership ratings for STV have been steadily declining, and they need a new show to bring the Scottish people back around.

Design a poster advertising a new Scottish version of a popular American TV series. Try and be creative with casting and really infuse the spirit of Scotland into your show. An example of this could be ‘CSI: Glasgow’.

Have you ever wondered how a film might have turned out if it had been written for a different genre?

Design a conceptual horror movie poster based on a film from any other genre. You can alter the original film’s title to give it that horror-movie feel. An example of this could be “You Don’t Mess With The Zombie” with Adam Sandler made to look like a zombie.

When Hollywood runs out of ideas, they make TV shows into films. When TV runs out of ideas, they make films into TV shows. Design a billboard poster advertising a new TV spin-off series based on a Hollywood film. Be as inventive as you like; use TV and B-grade actors wherever possible and really try to ruin (or improve) the original.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is finally returning to Hollywood after an eight-year hiatus and he needs to play a familiar role in order to comfortably get back into ‘acting’. Design a film poster for a new sequel to any one of his films.

Design box cover art for a video game based on a film or television series. You can design for any console you want, and you can pick a modern tv show for an older game format if you wish. Try to make it as ridiculous as possible; an example might be “Friends: The Video Game”, a first-person shooter for the Nintendo 64.

Design a parody movie poster by adding, subtracting or replacing only one letter from an existing title to come up with a new film. An example of this could be “Harry Otter” with the image replacing the main cast with otters.

Constant Digital is proud to introduce a new weekly series of projects for local designers. The aim of this is to encourage people to keep their skills fresh and to have fun engaging in this unique social community.

The project graphics and layout are likely to change over the coming weeks as the competition is refined; please understand that in this pilot season the competition will constantly be in development. If this pilot season is successful it will lead to more seasons.
